In 2023/24, listening and talking had the highest attainment (66.8%), followed by reading (58.0%), numeracy (55.1%), and writing (52.6%). Overall, levels have shown a general improvement and an upward trend compared to both the previous year and the baseline year.

The gap between care experienced and all pupils decreased for all subjects at P7 and S3 level between 2022/23 and 2023/24.

Achievement levels across all subjects remained lower for pupils experienced 'care' during the year compared to all pupils during 2023/24. The gap between looked after and all pupils is highest for Numeracy, at 30 percentage points. The gap is lowest in Listening and Talking (21 percentage points).
