In 2022/23, the exclusion rate for pupils who experienced care at some point in the school year increased, as did the gap compared with the overall pupil exclusion rate. However, the 2022/23 rate remained lower than in 2018/19, before the COVID-19 pandemic, when exclusions were recorded at 152 per 1,000 looked after pupils.
