There were 10,180 children in temporary accommodation at 31 March 2025, 1% higher than March 2024 (10,110) and 50% above the 2019 baseline (6,795). In the years leading up to the baseline, figures had been rising annually since 2015.The pandemic initially slowed this rate of increase, with more single adult households applying for homelessness support, However, between 2021 and 2022, there was a sharp increase as households with children began applying again.
