Seclusion incidents in secure care have been consistently reported since 2022. School care accommodation joined reporting in 2023. Earlier data focused on individual children secluded rather than total incidents, so trend comparisons are limited. Current figures provide the first national baseline for secure care seclusion, suggesting reductions overall since 2020 but some fluctuation between 2022 and 2023.
